In the first game back after the break the Magic took on the Dragons and the atmosphere was not what is usually is as the teams prepared to go into the final rounds of the competition.
With both teams fielding minimal players the game was sure to be slow and that’s exactly what it was. Amanda Cheal got the Magic off the mark scoring the first three baskets before the Dragons hit back with some baskets of their own including a three-pointer to John Cook.
It took a long time before either team got warmed up due to the coldness but the team that seemed to warm up quickest was the Magic who started to pile on the points through Amanda, Amber and Priscilla. The girls were scoring at will.
The Dragons showed what they can do when they get the ball to the other end of the court by scoring points of their own through Jacob Borkovic and Jennifer Walford.
Although the Magic had the game in the bag from the start the Dragons did not give up for the entire match pushing them all the way to the end.
Final score: Magic 75 defeated Dragons 53.
Best for the Magic: Priscilla Hutchinson 30 points and Amanda Cheal 24 points.
Best for the Dragons: Jacob Borkovic 24 points and Maree Walford 10 points.
In the second game of the evevning the Wizards took on the All-Stars.
Both these teams fielded five players each which was enough to produce a good game after the break over the school holidays.
Troy Krause kicked off the scoring for the Wizards and continued this throughout the game with the rest of the team chipping in.
The Wizards, who were on top of the table leading into this round, were determined to stay there and in order to do so they needed to defeat the All-Stars.
On the other side of the court the All-Stars were struggling to keep up on the scoreboard missing a lot of easy baskets that should have gone in and their defence was lacking enthusiasm. This gave Troy the green light to set up his team-mates for easy baskets.
The All-Stars had plenty of chances in the second half to close the gap on the scoreboard, as the Wizards went to sleep a few times on defence, but as the All-Stars now know missing easy baskets will come back to haunt you at the end of the game.
All the players from the All-Stars tried tirelessly throughout the game but they were no match for the Wizards on Tuesday night.
Final score: Wizards 64 defeated All-Stars 36.
Best for the Wizards: Troy Krause 36 points and Rhonda Ashby 13 points.
Best for the All-Stars: Lynette 14 points and Peter Dowdy 12 points.
