Court turns pink

05 Nov, 2009 01:47 PM
Three teams of basketball players from the Ridge, and others in association, competed in the Gilgandra Windmill Carnival on Saturday October 24, donning pink uniforms to raise awareness of breast cancer research.

All players did exceptionally well with the two men’s teams placing second and third, while the ladies reached the final before taking the runners-up trophy.

This is the first time teams have been sent to this Carnival and considering the change from local competition they all played exceptionally well.

A bucket was passed around at the event to raise funds for cancer research, which was donated to the Lightning Ridge Pink Ribbon Breakfast fundraiser.

Everyone was pleased

with the day’s outcome of play, with many players hoping to come back again next year.
