Zero - I never experienced it in my year working as the weekend shop assistant, or the past two years as manager of the Visitor Information Centre but that’s how many people we had through the doors of the VIC last Saturday. With only five people in so far today it’s not much busier.
Although, can you blame the tourists with the mass of water coming our way? I know you’re sick of hearing about it so I won’t make you read about the flood water AGAIN - but just keep in mind to check out the Walgett Shire website, or give us a call, for updated road closures.
Even though the tourists can’t be here we’ll see many visitors in the way of essential service workers - make them feel welcome, they’re here for our benefit.
Quote of the week (I must admit it’s an old one guys, we haven’t enough visitors to write new comments in our book): “Did everything on the tourist guide. Colour Car doors were especially great.” Visitors from Gold Coast QLD, duration of stay three days.
Of Interest: Do you have a passion for opal? Fossils? Would you like to see the industry expand? Or do you even just hold a bit of an interest? Are you a local business? Or even a community- minded individual? Answer yes to all or any of these questions? Then you should be a member of the Australian Opal Centre. At only $15 a year for a community membership (you can’t get a good steak dinner for that these days) you can help support a massive venture that is gearing up to do amazing things for the opal industry.
If you have any questions or wish to discuss anything you read here, please don’t hesitate to contact me at the Visitor Information Centre on (02) 6829 1670.
