The map (below) is showing the expanse of water as of Tuesday evening. The Lightning Ridge SES has since been informed that the water is now on the Allawah cultivation.
A lot of water is expected in the next day or two.
The water is expected to cross the Weetalibah on Thursday which will cause isolation to the north.
It depends on how many days it takes to fill Coocooran Lake and then spill over. Then water should be seen around town. For the SES please call 132 500 and emergency phone 000.
The local SES has been busy filling sandbags to reinforce the levee around the bore head which supplies water to the town and also resupplying shops with milk and bread. The SES is also ensuring mail gets through. The SES is also busy getting the new bore head in working order as a back-up.
The Lightning Ridge SES intends to facilitate the supplies to Angledool, Hebel and isolated properties for the duration of this event.
Residents of isolated properties will be required to make arrangements with the local stores/suppliers for ordering and payment of the supplies. The SES will arrange for the goods to be picked up each afternoon, Monday to Friday, and transport them to waiting aircrafts for delivery between 4pm-6pm. If the SES calls any community meetings, the community will be notified by the radio stations and newsletters.
