Spotlight on diabetes at men’s health night

22 Jul, 2010 11:24 AM
Diabetes has been described as a complex disease which can affect the entire body.

Understanding diabetes is important even if you don’t have it because it is most likely that you know someone who does - maybe a family member or a friend. This is largely because diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in Australia and globally, which is why any blokes out there who have any questions about diabetes should come to the next men’s health night on Thursday July 29 at 6pm at the Lightning Ridge Golf Club.

Community awareness of the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes is still surprisingly limited. As a community, the people of Lightning Ridge need to foster a culture of shared understanding of what diabetes is and be part of the solution that turns the diabetes epidemic around.

Zoe Rose is the Diabetes Educator from the Lightning Ridge Community Health Service. She will be at the men’s health night next Thursday July 29 to discuss diabetes and answer any questions.

Men of all ages are most welcome to attend the evening which will kick-off at 6pm at the golf club.
