New health manager welcomed

30 Jan, 2012 03:00 PM
Lightning Ridge would like to welcome Sally Gehard who has accepted the position of the Lightning Ridge Hospital, Health Service manager.

Sally said she was passionate about the equitable provision of quality health care and believed that all interaction with people was based fundamentally on goodwill, respect and honesty.

She hopes that by working together the needs of the community will be successfully addressed.

Sally was born in the former Yugoslavia and came to Australia as a young child with her family.

She resided in Broken Hill and hence was personally well aware of the challenges of living in remote areas and especially the difficulties in accessing specialised health care.

Sally went to Sydney to do her general nurse training at St George Hospital in Kogarah and did midwifery at Canterbury Hospital Campsie.

Since completing her training, Sally married and in between bouts of childbearing (she has five children) worked in a variety of clinical specialities and management roles including After Hours Nurse Manager at Sydney Children’s Hospital, St George Hospital and with Justice Health.
