The Queensland Boulder Opal Association is once again hosting the Opal Expo to be held in Winton from Tuesday September 10 to Thursday September 12. All traders from all opal fields are welcome.

On the Tuesday beginning at 12pm - registrations and bookings are being taken, with the opal trading to begin at 1pm; a sunset tour starts at 5pm; and a meet and greet dinner will be held at the RSL Club from 7pm.

On the Wednesday, opal trading will run from 8am to 4pm and an expo dinner will be held at the North Gregory Hotel from 7pm. On the Thursday there will be an opal factory street market and an expo farewell in the evening at the Tattersall's Hotel.

The LRMA has accommodation and travel information for anyone who is interested.

New access

arrangements

The release of the new OPB 194 has generated quite a lot of interest and hopefully stimulated some prospecting activity. The LRMA has negotiated new access for the new fields between 'Roxburgh' and ‘Muttabun' towards Greenacres, and a grid will be installed as soon as possible on the boundary fence. This should make life easier for those processing their dirt on ‘Muttabun' plus it gives miners a wet weather access.

We are also in the process of negotiating a new access through ‘Roxburgh' to the Grawin, which is shorter than the existing route. We will let you know the exact route when all the details are finalised.

New members

The LRMA tries to ensure that all members are of good character.
