Viki Murray’s just passing through

27 May, 2010 12:47 PM
Local photographic artist Viki Murray will open her latest exhibition, Just Passing Through, to the public on Sunday May 30.

Featuring 49 digital images, the exhibition was inspired by a road trip through parts of India.

It is a visual narrative that invites us to stay in the moment and absorb the finer details that surround us in both the mundane and extraordinary.

The artist said the images in this collection tried to share the inherent beauty in everyday settings and objects, many of which are often overlooked in our haste to get where we think we need to be.

It explores how gnarled wood, cracked and aged paintwork, and the play of light on stonework all tell a textural tale of beauty and expression.

Just Passing Through will be showing at the John Murray Art Gallery for two weeks – from this Sunday through to Sunday June 13. The John Murray Art Gallery is located at 8 Opal Street in Lightning Ridge and is open seven days.
