 Town loses true friend

Town loses true friend

11 Nov, 2004 08:44 AM
Vale Judy Williams

Age 63 years

Wife, mother, sister and friend.

The heartbreak of Lightning Ridge is extended to husband Peter, children Lesley, Jamie and Peter, stepdaughters Tina and Michelle, siblings Angie(dec), Netty(dec), Barry(dec), Shirley, Maureen, Pat and Trevor.

Judy as with the rest of the Hudson clan hailed from Kempsey.

They were a no-frills family which summarised Judy's life, to find her selling raffle tickets outside the Bowling Club in the last two weeks of her life.

The tickets were for the Royal Flying Doctors and the lady bowlers which Judy considered more important recipients then her humble pain wracked self.

Testimony to Judy's popularity was that Father PJ had to move the service from the Lightning Ridge Catholic Church to the much larger Bowling Club auditorium.

Judy was a bit of a stunner in her early years having won a beauty contest at Kempsey in 1961.

Little wonder that among her admirers was popular Bowling Club president husband Peter.

Judy won every category in the ladies bowling championships.

She worked for Mr Cheaps when it first opened in town opposite the Bowling Club about 12 years ago and went from there to work at the TAB.

Judy, the town of Lightning Ridge is the loser with your departure but the legacy of your humbleness that you have left will not be forgotten.
