The Great Goat Race Committee has had numerous requests to organise another Easter Saturday family evening next year, with two live bands, games, and the incredible pyrotechnics fireworks display, which had been estimated by the audience to be valued at up to $20,000.
This year's event was organised, free of charge, by the committee as a thank you to the local community for its continued wonderful support of the Great Goat Races.
While the two bands and other expenses of the evening, including the insurance, and the smaller portion of the fireworks display was paid for by the committee, the major portion of the stunning fireworks display was kindly donated by local business operator, Rod McCracken and his two sons.
This week we approached Rod regarding the possibility of recreating this great fireworks display for next year's Easter family night. The good news is that we may be able to come to some cost sharing arrangement for next year, to provide another great free family night out for our locals.
By the way, please remember, the annual general meeting of the Great Goat Race Committee is being held on Wednesday November 6 at 7pm, at the bowling club. Everybody is welcome, as we urgently need ideas for events to stage, either as fundraisers or for next Easter Saturday.
