NATIONAL OPAL

SYMPOSIUM 2011

COMMITTEE

The LRMA is in the process of planning the seventh National Opal Symposium to be held in Lightning Ridge July 25 to 27 2011. We are looking for some interested members to be part of the committee.

The role of the committee will be to plan the event, decide upon a theme, choose speakers,

attract sponsors and arrange the event.

Watkins of the Geological Survey Unit of NSW Industry and Investment, Mineral Resources has agreed to bring his considerable talents to the committee as has a representative from the Australian Opal Centre.

Please contact the LRMA office to register your interest. It is an excellent opportunity to ensure that the symposium is relevant to the industry and will be great fun.

NEW CLASS OF MEMBER FOR LRMA

At the 36th Annual General Meeting of the LRMA, held last November the members passed a motion to introduce a new class of member.

For an annual fee of $20 people can apply to become an associate member of the LRMA.

An associate member does not have the same rights as a full member but they can attend LRMA functions such as the Annual General Meeting although will not be entitled to vote.

Site holders, visitors to puddling tanks and bond scheme participants will still need to be full members.

The members recommended the introduction of an associate member to provide interested people with an opportunity to support the LRMA without the expense of full membership.

NEW MEMBERS

The following have applied for membership of the LRMA.

If any member has an objection to any of the membership applications please contact the LRMA office and your objection will be treated with the strictest of confidence.

Roger Ley Proposer: Brenton Davies Seconder: Bill Kotru

Slobodan Skuletich Proposer: George Vogler Seconder: Ron Canlin
