Opal FM held a picnic in the Lions Park recently to celebrate the station’s 14th birthday.
Ann Brown from Opal FM said it was a hugely successful day which was enjoyed by everyone who attended.
On behalf of Opal FM, she thanked all the sponsors.
“Because without their assistance,” she said, “we wouldn’t be able to bring this event to life.”
Among them were: Taronga Western Plains Zoo, Tom’s Lapidary, Andrew’s Butchery, Chambers of the Black Hand, Reuben and Jan’s Plants, Ross the Fisherman, Lightning Ridge Bowling Club, The Ridge News, Richard Eggins’ Fruit and Vegetables, LRE Electrical and Gas, Morilla’s Café, Weeks’ Newsagency, Duncan’s Fashions, Harlequin Café, Miracle Cuts, the Ridge Bargain Centre, Opal Wilderness, Lost Sea Opals, the Walgett Shire Council and Noel Burke the bread man.
Mrs Brown said Opal FM intended to hold another picnic to celebrate their 15th birthday in 2011, which they hoped would be bigger and better than ever.
With the fabulous entertainers, Graham Rodger and Barry Nicholson keen to come back again next year it shouldn’t be too difficult.
