The annual general meeting was held on July 4 and attended by a handful of faithful members.
The minutes of our 2003 meeting were read and approved, and achievements of the year recapped.
Several grants to be matched dollar-for-dollar or in kind have been applied for: a Walgett shire heritage grant to cover Dawson's wagon in the Fred Bodel Estate, a commonwealth grant to sculpt a bronze bust of Charlie Nettleton, a National Library grant to digitalise oral history, and a Western Lands grant to upgrade the office computer system.
Two local men, Norman Masters and Mathew Steed, have volunteered to help keep our backyard tidy. Our volunteers, Bea Tape, Paula Lloyd, Rosemarie Doehring and June McGillvray, will man Heritage Cottage during our 'Works Wonders' exhibition that runs to the middle of August.
Officers for the coming year remain: George Mulder as president, Len Cram as vice president and Barbara Moritz, secretary/treasurer.
If you would like to join the Historical Society, please call at the Cottage. The subscription is $15 per year and we welcome new members!
Barbara Moritz,
Secretary
