Rare films to be screened

02 Dec, 2004 09:05 AM
The Opal and Fossil Centre Committee is holding a film night tonight, including some rare old film footage of Lightning Ridge.

A short silent 1920s film about the Ridge will be shown along with some black and white footage of the town shot in the 1960s.

After the films the committee will ask people to talk about old mining machinery and items of opal mining heritage that should be preserved.

A brief presentation and discussion about the Opal and Fossil Centre will follow.

The night will be held at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club and entry is free.

It starts at 7:30pm and supper will be provided.
