Even on holiday the Men’s Shed President Chuck Peters is still busying himself with his duties visiting other sheds they come across in their travels.
“I must say that the sheds that I visited, Peak Hill, Parkes and Grenfell, made us most welcome and offered much assistance and encouragement to establish a Men’s Shed in Lightning Ridge,” said Mr Peters.
“Caz and I propose to visit as many sheds as possible.”
While on tour Chuck has been developing a contact list and making note of ideas and projects other sheds are working on, which may be implemented by the Lightning Ridge group in the future.
At the Parkes Men’s Shed a sign is erected listing the Australian, State and local government, private sponsors, local businesses and organisations who have helped in the groups development, this idea impressed the president who is inclined the have one in the Ridge.
While the Men’s Shed is still looking for a community block of land or local shed to start establishing themselves several committee members are planning to visit the Wellington shed in mid-February to attend a one-day expo to gather more information and assistance to kick off the Ridge venture.
The Lightning Ridge Men’s Shed has met with a big set back after the Federal Government rejected their application for a grant.
The Walgett Shire Council pushed for the request, however because the requirements were unable to be met the petition was denied.
