Thanks to Joan, Francie and the AASPAR committee we now have a beautiful new stereo unit.
Look out for a super new music program - now we can use our talking books to great effect. The children really enjoy looking at the book and listening to a new voice reading the story - yet another way of preparing the children for the magic day when they are ready to learn to read.
As well, we have purchased a small cassette player complete with large sturdy headphones, so six children can listen individually to stories through our listening post.
Hannah McMillian brought her tortoise to school this week, much the children's delight. We've found pictures and stories about turtles, and then allowed the children to use our interactive CD ROM about the Tortoise and the Hare. The children are becoming quite confident with the mouse, and are able to co-ordinate their hand movements with those of the cursor on the screen.
Some of our older children are using our storyboards to make up their own stories about Bob the Builder and Searching for Nemo, or Memo, as they generally pronounce it.
This is an excellent way for the children to develop language skills as they increase their vocabularies and their imaginative powers, as they become more confident in addressing others.
