Country Energy has completed a $165,000 upgrade to the electricity network in Lightning Ridge improving the supply of essential services and ensuring a safe and robust power grid.

Country Energy’s regional general manager, Pete Halliwell, said the upgrade would help to strengthen the power infrastructure in the area bringing benefits to the community.

“We are committed to ensuring the network is meeting the needs of all our customers throughout the north-western region and this upgrade is one example of how we are working to achieve this,” Pete said.

Crews replaced a two pole substation in Morilla Street which will increase load capacity in the area, and updated local electrical assets making the infrastructure more secure and dependable.

“This upgrade will significantly increase the capacity of the network, catering for future growth, while enhancing the power infrastructure making it stronger and more reliable in delivering electricity to our customers.

The refurbishment of power infrastructure in the Lightning Ridge area is part of $700 million Country Energy is investing across 95 per cent of New South Wales to maintain and improve the electricity network this financial year.
