Work along the trench in Pandora Street is on schedule to be completed today after the contractors successfully finished laying more than a kilometre of piping from the towns main bore pipe to the indoor pool centres plant room.
In the next week the crew will undertake clean-up operation across the pipeline before they set to work on constructing the control valve and flow meter pit and begin installing the pump control telemetry system.
“We are still working towards testing and commissioning the system by around the 11th and 12th of March,” TWS director Rex Wilson said.
“We have had nothing but positive comments from the community which helps keep things ticking over.”
While the indoor pool centre is looking spectacular from all the hard work from its volunteers and committee members there are few issue remaining that need to be finalised before everything is in top working condition for winter. The plant room for the pool needs to be fixed for the incoming water and the electrical work for the lights need to be worked on.
“We hope to be ready for winter and we are trying to reach that goal,” pool committee president Richard Mallouk said.
“Our councillors are really doing a great job”.
