The Sydney-based Nova Youth Orchestra conducted stopped off in Lightning Ridge last week as part of its north and central western tour.
The orchestra also visited Warren, Bourke, Brewarrina, Coonamble and eventually Dubbo for their final performance.
The orchestra performed in the Ridge last Thursday, and brought with it 36 youths aged 10 to 18.
Administrator for the orchestra Margaret Leong said the performance saw conductors Martin Smith and Phillipa Jackson lead the orchestra.
She said following the Lightning Ridge concert the Nova Youth Orchestra had raised close to $2500, with all of it to go to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
However Ms Leong said she found the response to the orchestra most receptive in country areas as opposed to in the cities.
"We have had a heart warming response and many welcoming invitations from country areas, which is good, they really seem to appreciate the music."
She said the Nova Youth Orchestra was a community orchestra formed 11 years ago.
During this time the orchestra has raised millions of dollars for various charities.
But she said this year they chose to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service to coincide and get behind the Year of the Outback theme.
Soroptimists International of Lightning Ridge organised the orchestra to perform at the Ridge for a free concert and president Pat Law said they were happy with the response.
"I'm very happy with the turn out, there would have been at least 100 people at the bowling club auditorium to watch and hear the kids play.
"And we even got about 40 of our local kids who came in to watch during their holidays which is amazing," she said.
