The new school year is here and teachers and staff of the Lightning Ridge Central School have been busy preparing their classrooms for the eager students who are settling in for their first day of 2010.
There are seven new teachers taking on the children of the Ridge this year and each one
is keen to take all the positives with the negatives.
Andrew Rogerson will be teaching Stage 2 and he is looking forward to the coming year.
“I’ve been living in Sydney all my life and I wanted to experience a country school,” said Mr Rogerson.
Lauren Birney will be joining Andrew in Stage 2 and she is also anticipating the new changes and the adventure that comes with it.
The two new Kindergarten teachers Kelly Bryden and Alice Gibson are eager to get to work and join the local community.
“Everyone has been very supportive and we are fitting in really well,” said Ms Kelly.
The new industrial arts teacher Chris Murray is ready for the school year and can’t wait to get to know the people of the Ridge and see the area.
Nathan Forbes also joins the new list returning from a period of teaching elsewhere, only to find himself wanting to come back to the Ridge. He will be teaching Stage 3.
The final new teacher to complete the list is Kelly Gould, a local woman who couldn’t find a place any better to work than here.
“This is a very good school with excellent resources, the lab is better than you would find anywhere else,” said Ms Gould.
“I am very happy to join the excellent staff of this school”.
Lightning Ridge Central School Principal Chris Tome was happy with the start this year had had so far and he has high hopes for the future.
“I am confident that we can look forward to a positive and productive year,” said Mr Tome.
