Mobil angered by comments

25 Aug, 2005 09:48 AM
Concern over refuelling at Lightning Ridge airport has led to Mobil threatening to walk away from providing the refuelling service.

Mobil currently offers a drum service but has said it will stop providing the extra service of disposing of the drums after use.

Bernie Morris from Lowes Petroleum in Goondiwindi said they have been providing an extra disposal service that would no longer continue.

"We are at the point now where you buy the drum and what you do with it is up to you," he said.

In response to a column published in The Ridge News concerning the contamination of tanks Mr Morris said he was so disappointed he would think about discontinuing the service.

"It stinks as far as I am concerned, I'm really disappointed with what has happened out there," he said.

Terry Balsden from the Lightning Ridge BP said if Mobil walked away from the refuelling service at the airport he would take up the position.

"If they are going to walk away from it then we would look at starting an operation there," he said.
