The Lightning Ridge Tourist Association is encouraging members of the community to become part of this year's Easter Festival celebrations by competing in the battle of the buskers.
Event organiser Viki Murray said there would be some changes to the format of the competition this year which will be held on Saturday March 26.
"The buskers will start later this year at 10.30am so they are not competing with the goat races," she said.
Last year the judges picked who would be a finalist, while this year everyone who enters the competition will have the opportunity to perform in the final.
In another change from last year there will be no karaoke.
"Someone playing a guitar with no backing music is a lot different to having the music and words played for you on a screen," Mrs Murray said.
With first prize $1500 and second prize $500, Mrs Murray is encouraging local performers to have a go.
Mrs Murray said the festival was also an opportunity for local groups to raise money by putting in a stall for a street market.
For more information about stalls contact Steve Terry.
All buskers need to pay a registration fee of $25 to Viki Murray by March 20.
