The SES is predicting Lightning Ridge, Walgett and Googooga could face weeks of isolation, starting from around this weekend.
"In the case of Lightning Ridge and Walgett it is likely to be around two weeks but could be longer," the NSW SES said in a statement.
"For Goodooga it is probable that the community is going to remain cut off for up to eight weeks."
Residents should ensure they complete urgent medical appointments before the roads shut and should stock up on essentials.
The NSW SES will help to resupply these towns during their isolation and move people if there is a medical emergency.
