Ambassador Peter Wynn, known for his talent in rugby league, will address citizens from the Walgett Shire at this year's Australia Day celebrations in Walgett.
Mr Wynn spent most of his childhood from 1957 to 1975 in the country towns of Maitland, Blayney, Temora and Werris Creek.
His family moved a lot because his father was a railway stationmaster.
1975 was also the year that Mr Wynn completed his HSC and matriculated to Sydney and Macquarie Universities.
"I opted to take up a teachers scholarship to Wollongong and study mathematics for three years between 1976 to 1978."
In his final year of study, Mr Wynn was awarded a Diploma of Teaching and from 1979 and 1987 he taught secondary mathematics at the following schools - Maroubra Bay High School, Mitchell High School at Blacktown, Whalan High School at Mt Druitt, St Johns Park High School at Fairfield and Riverstone High School.
In his final four years of teaching he was a year master.
In 1988 Mr Wynn resigned from teaching to open his own business - a sports store called "Peter Wynn's Score" which he still owns and operates.
But for Mr Wynn rugby league had always been an important part of his life.
"As a 4st 7lb 'midget' I began playing at Temora in 1964.
"At Werris Creek I played my entire junior league up to Under 18s in 1975.
"Between 1976 and 1978 I played with the Thirroul Butchers.
"I was signed by Parramatta as one of the imports in 1978 after representing country first at the Sydney Cricket Ground and playing in the Amco Cup."
Mr Wynn played his entire Sydney career as an Eel between 1979 and 1990 (12 seasons).
The personal highlights of his football career include - playing in Sydney, representing Australia, NSW, City and Country, playing in grand finals, becoming a life member of Parramatta, and playing in the first NSW State of Origin series' winning team.
Last year Mr Wynn was selected as one of 13 Parramatta Legends, which was a great honour.
"My life is now devoted to a variety of things including my wife and four children, my business, supporting different charities such as Matthew Talbot House and Westmead Children's Hospital, sponsoring and supporting the Eels, keeping fit by swimming and competing in ocean swims, and playing golf," he said.
