Mr Brooks recently visited Lightning Ridge Central School where he taught basics at such as awareness of rope length and the correct way to hold the skipping rope handle.
During his presentation Mr Brooks also spoke about the schools in Singapore where skipping is now a major part of the educational curriculum.
"Skipping is an excellent way for children to keep fit," Mr Brooks said.
"Additionally, to perform the skills the skipper must employ co-ordination, agility and be able to work in a team."
Mr Brooks felt the children responded well to his presentation.
And, as any playtime visitor to the school is likely to see, the boys and girls alike appear to be hooked.
Mr Brooks' visit was part of the schools participation in Jump Rope For Heart, a fundraiser for the Heart Foundation that promotes fitness in children.
Lightning Ridge Central school fundraiser organiser Laurie Boyd deemed the day a great success.
"The students were enthusiastic and overall showed a great deal of athletic ability," Ms Boyd said.
"Most of the kids were really keen to learn new tricks."
The financial side of the fundraiser was also a success with more than $1000 already collected and more to still come in.
