Highway billboards set to promote the Ridge

11 Mar, 2010 09:50 AM
The Chambers of the Black Hand is holding a meeting at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club on March 31 2010 at 7pm.

The meeting is being held to organise billboard signs promoting Lightning Ridge.

The Chambers of the Black Hand hopes that 10 to 20 signs will be placed along highways in four major regions - Central West, New Engand, Far West and Southern Queensland. The purpose of these signs is to create an awareness of Lightning Ridge.

Trevor Hudson from The Chambers of the Black Hand, believes this is important because of the Lightning Ridge community’s dependence on tourism.

This initiative is timely considering that the population of Lightning Ridge has, according to Hudson, been shrinking in recent years.

The Chambers of the Black Hand believes that now is the time to act. If the Lightning Ridge community does not do so now, it may pay for it in the future. Anyone interested in being involved in this initiative is encouraged to come to the meeting on March 31.

Those wishing to submit a design for the signs are welcome to do so and are asked to bring them to the meeting on a sheet of A3 paper, if possible. For further information, contact Trevor Hudson at the Chambers of the Black Hand on 6829 0221.
