The NSW Government has increased its commitment to farmers affected by the drought with some expanded and renewed measures.
The increased support for the farmers included the re-installment of the transport subsidy for sending livestock to slaughter or sale until the end of winter with a re-evaluation in spring.
The government also gave a renewed commitment to the Rural Financial Counselling Program.
NSW primary industries minister Ian Macdonald encouraged farmers to contact the Department of Community Services, which has an emergency cash grants program.
"This scheme could be a real lifeline for farmers, particularly those 18,000 farmers who have been cut off from the Federal Government's Exceptional Circumstances income support scheme," he said.
"These cash grants could prove immediate help for farmers in these areas, which include Dubbo, Walgett, Coonamble, Northern New England, Coonabarabran, Armidale, Mudgee-Merriwa, parts of the Southwest Slopes and Plains, and some parts of the Riverina and Eastern Riverina," he said.
