Drawing and pottery classes have started up again at the Arts and Craft Centre on Pandora Street.
Works from the artists involved in the classes were on exhibit during Easter and the next exhibition will be during the long weekend in September and October.
New teachers are also coming to Lightning Ridge in the next few months to hold classes in photography, jewellery making and lead glass lighting.
The Little Diggers Child Care Centre will be holding an exhibition of children's work in around three weeks.
Drawing teacher Babette Gruber said she would like to encourage people of any age group and experience to come to the classes.
"What is good about it is you are learning a new skill. It also gives you self-esteem, it's something they do for themselves. It's their little secret garden. Whatever problems they have, it doesn't matter, it's a present for them. I see that my students are so proud of themselves."
Pottery teacher Lorraine Clayton also said it gives
people confidence and a time out.
"People find it so relaxing. Some of my students come to me and say I've never done this before, I can't do anything, but they produced some of the most beautiful things. We have a fun and happy group."
