Grant money used for special art workshop

16 Dec, 2011 12:28 PM
Every year the Regional Arts NSW offers a number of grants and this year the Arts and Crafts Council was lucky enough to be able to present a three-part workshop with Jennifer Bult and Shirley Kelly.

“Tribal Pots” was awesome as it showed students how to use local clay, then make the tools used to make these pots.

Students were impressed to find that instead of very expensive clay and kiln firing of rather small objects they were shown how to make large useful pots and other items that can be open fired.

Students took to the art of “beading and scrapbook and card making” with “Shirley’s Beads” hardly a day goes by without one or another of the students bringing in their latest pieces.

The president knows that without these grants some of the students would never get a chance to learn these arts.

We are all very grateful and enjoy the benefits of these projects and hope to be able to see these teachers back again.

Application for grants open till early February, contact Outback Arts for more details on the requirements needed to

apply.
