Event organiser Angela Myers said the expo was now the biggest opal show in Australia.

"As the success of the event grows every year I have to do less work to book stallholders," she said.

It is not just opals that will be on display.

There will also be a wide range of lifestyle product suppliers toting their wares, with everything from woollen quilts, cookware, clothing, candles, natural honey, leather goods, fresh juices, home brew products, gourmet foods, garden ornaments, timber craft, and other novelty goods.

Angela said the expo wasn't just for tourists and people in the gem trade.

"It is also a great chance for locals to do some bargain shopping."
