Elegance and grace

15 Oct, 2009 08:37 AM
It was a night of glamour for the young Ridge princesses who walked the stage with elegance and grace, demonstrating to the audience and judges why this year was a challenge for everyone involved to decide which girl would don the winning sash.

Competition was tough but after much deliberation the judges had to make a decision and the lucky ladies that were chosen did not disappoint.

The Mini Princesses flaunted their youth with a prestigious assortment of sequins and jewellery, but in the end only a few could win and the decision was a tough one.

Brooke McMillan took the crown as Miss Mini Princess of 2009 followed by Bridgette McKellar as the runner-up and Zalliah Rose Boney in third.

Xhana Tishler was voted as Miss Personality of the event.

The title of 2009 Miss Opal Princess was awarded to the very admirable Tori Weatherhead who was thrilled by the announcement. Following close behind was a radiant Anna Miglietta in second place and the ever dazzling Jodie Anne Davidson in third.

Although she didn’t win a place on the evening Rebecca Clauss happily celebrated the evening knowing she was voted Miss Personality of this year’s proceedings.

Organisers of the event, Lightning Ridge Preschool, were very thankful to everyone who was involved in making this fantastic fundraiser enjoyable for all.

They also wish to express their sincere thanks to their sponsors and supporters; LRE, Duncans, Weeks Newsagency, Lightning Ridge Hotel Motel, Chambers of the Black Hand, Zitas Videos, Lomax’s Opals, The Ridge News, Khans IGA, Down to Earth Opal, Lightning Ridge Miners Association, Lost Sea Opals, Peters Opal, Lightning Ridge Safe House, Westpac, The Opal Cave, Ridgerock Earthmoving, Mr Cheap, Barriekneal, The Opal Festival Committee, Blueys Motel, Karley’s Hair Shack, John Murray, the Lightning Ridge Returned Services League and the Lightning Ridge District Bowling Club.

The Opal Mini and Opal Princess Ball was beautifully conducted inside the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club’s auditorium on Wednesday night October 7, in front of friends, family and guests who lined up for the chance to see some of the Ridge’s finest young women take part in the annual tradition.

The preschool has photographs of all the children who took part in the night and if parents would like some they can contact Belinda Buckley on 0407 956 990.

All proceeds will go towards the Lightning Ridge Preschool.
