Deal aims to boost grain co-op profits

21 Oct, 2005 09:52 AM
They have entered into an agreement with Pentag, a newly formed company that specialises in analysing the market and getting grain to where it will receive the highest price.

Growers came together on Tuesday night to meet members of the Pentag team and discuss the options for this year's harvest.

Chief executive officer Ed Colless was excited about the possibilities of this new deal.

"We're putting together one of the best grain marketing teams in regional Australia," he said.

"The functional and strategic support we will receive gives us a greater range and depth of choices."

The plan is for the co-operative to work with the growers to maximise supply, while Pentag will deal with buyers and find the best paths to the market.

Pentag managing director Rob Brealey said his team had 80 years of experience between them, which they would be putting to good use.

"Our job is about understanding the pulls and pushes of the market, which are constantly changing," he said. "We will identify where the best markets are and target them."
