Couple to hold free seminar on home schooling

19 Nov, 2004 08:27 AM
The Australian Christian Academy is holding a free seminar on home schooling at the Bowling Club next week.

Academic consultant Andrew McColl and his wife Sue from the Australian Christian Academy will be in Lightning Ridge on November 22.

The McColls have first hand experience in home schooling as they taught their three sons through to the completion of their Year 12 certificate.

Mr McColl believes most people home school their children as a means of ensuring that their values were successfully communicated to the next generation.

He believes the success of home schooling depends on the parents and the curriculum they use.

He said home schooled children also have some advantages in developing social skills, due to the fact that students in the home has much more exposure to the mature attitudes of their parents, through "one on one" conversation.

The free seminar will be held at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club on November 22 at 1.30pm. All are welcome.
