Couple move to town to help Ridge community

25 Feb, 2010 12:57 PM
The congregation of the Lightning Ridge Community Church is celebrating this week after David Piper was welcomed to town on Sunday as Assistant Minister to Pastor Mike Keith. Joining the team David will provide support with ceremonies and activites that the church undertakes.

Finishing Bible College last year David saw the advertisement for the position and welcomed the opportunity for something different from Sydney.

David and his wife Joanne, who is now working casually at the Lightning Ridge Central School, visited the area in the new year to get a taste of life in this country town and help them decide if it was suitable for them.

“The people have been very friendly since we arrived,” Mr Piper said.

“As I start and get to know people in town I just want to listen to know where people are coming from, I don’t want to bring in my ideas without learning first.”

Mr Keith said he is very happy with the new appointment and the great benefits it will bring to the community.

“This is something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time and I am sure David will leave a postive impact on the community,” Mr Keith said.

In his new position David aims to

help the community and people find a lasting treasure in knowing God through Jesus.
