Children enjoy listening post

18 Feb, 2004 05:03 PM
Things are really happening at our centre - Ian Harrison has built a shelf to hold our magnificent new TV and VCR/ DVD player. Thanks again to the Bush Police Safari.

Our new listening post has been set up much to the children's delight.

They feel so grown up sitting and listening to the story and turning the pages, reading along with the tape.

We hope to build up our library of tapes and accompanying multiple copies of books, so the children are free to read a variety of books.

The children have already asked to start writing their names, so we are making their name cards available so they can practise tracing their names and writing them freehand.

A set of soft, rubber, native animals of Australia have proved popular, as the children play with them and learn to identify them.

We are awaiting a visit from a TAFE officer to assess out centre so our two Aboriginal workers are able to start their training.
