Buskers battle it out for inaugural title

14 Apr, 2004 05:28 PM
The Battle of the Buskers was held as part of the Easter festivities on Saturday night at Nobbies Pub.

Twenty-one buskers lined the streets during the day on Saturday and performed for the thousands of people who came to watch the goat races.

The final of the competition was then held at the pub in the evening where 11 finalists battled it out for the major prize in front of a huge crowd.

The judges of the competition were Steve Terry and Stephen Coburn.

Corey Lafaitele from Tweed Heads was awarded first prize and went home with $1500.

Lightning Ridge resident Vaughn Bell came second winning $500 and Chris Hacker from Dubbo came third winning $300, donated by Zita's Video.

Busking co-ordinator Viki Murray said the competition went really well and would like to thank all who entered the competition and helped out on the day.
