The Lightning Ridge Police Bush Safari (LRPBS) held their Annual General Meeting last Thursday where they distributed the funds they raised throughout 2009.
The community has benefited greatly from these donations with a total $12,761.50 spread across several organisations in need with the Lightning Ridge SES receiving $750, the Royal Flying Doctor Service $200 and the Victorian Bush Fire appeal $250.
The Lightning Ridge Central School needed a binding machine and $1186.50 was donated to them with an additional $250 for a perpetual trophy.
The local swimming club was also allocated $1000 and the preschool was awarded $160.
The 2009 committee has been delighted to be able to commit $8965 for the purpose of erecting a shade shelter over the Lightning Ridge Skate
Park.
The 2010 committee was elected at the AGM, which comprises of president Craig Norton, vice-president Shane Pitt, secretary Leigh Black and treasurer Danielle Osborne with Janeen Giddings, Lawrie Cree, David Tooth, Paul Wilson and Trent Swinton.
Another six hardworking community members support the official committee and all members hope that they will receive community support in making this year bigger and better than ever.
To celebrate 20 years of fundraising for the Lightning Ridge community the 2010 Police Bush Safari will be heading to the Flinders Ranges for their next adventure.
