Artists gear up for Easter display

25 Mar, 2004 05:33 PM
Lightning Ridge Arts and Crafts Council Inc. held its first meeting for 2004 last Sunday.

Firstly, a big thankyou to the bowling club for the use of their facilities for our drawing classes during the recent hot spell.

Our own premises lack airconditioning, but we hope to address this problem before next summer.

Art and pottery classes are being held again on Saturdays and Sundays.

Call in and make yourself known to us if these are of interest, or just browse around the exhibits on permanent display.

All members are expected to attend the busy bee scheduled for Sunday April 4 to prepare the hall for our Easter exhibition.

The exhibition is non-competitive and gives our students of both art and pottery a chance to display their progress to the community.

You will be amazed at the emerging talent, which demonstrates that each of us can be creative once the technique is mastered.

The opening of the exhibition will be held on Friday April 9 at 7pm.

Entry fee is $5 and finger foods along with refreshments are included.

The exhibition will be open from 9am to 5pm on Saturday and Sunday and will close at 3pm on Monday.

Watch out for members near the Opal Cave during the goat races.

Face painting will be in progress for kids, with many weird and wonderful designs by our talented artists.

See you there.

A lovely watercolour of Lightning Ridge will be raffled and drawn on Monday April 12 at the Arts and Crafts Hall in Pandora Street (next to the library).

The artist, Reg Proctor has won many prizes with his realistic and colourful works.
