Obituary
Albert Walford, a man loved by many, sadly died August 13.
Albert was very proud of his racial and cultural heritage but judged people not by the colour of their skin, but by the content of the character and how they conducted themselves.
He was born on October 26 at Cumborah Springs into a family of 12 children and they were brought up in the bush by their mother and father, Albert Walford and Nellie Brown.
In 1937 Albert met Iris Lake in Walgett, who, a year later, became his wife.
They went on and raised eight kids, moved to Lightning Ridge in 1962 and Iris educated the whole family via correspondence.
Albert, Iris and their four remaining children settled in Lightning Ridge and called it home.
Three things stood out in Albert's life - family, work and character and personality.
He was known for being a hard worker and one of nature's "gentlemen" - gentle of spirit and heart.
Like the famous quote describing boxing champion Joe Louis, "Albert was a credit and tribute to his race - the human race".
