The Bachelor of the Year competition for 2003 was held last Friday night with Aaron Bruce claiming the top title for the year.
Around 200 people turned up to the Bowling Club for a night of fun and laughs.
Twelve young and not so young men battled it out for the top title, undergoing a few tests of their manhood to determine the most eligible bachelor of the Ridge.
The general knowledge test was given to the men, with most of them proving a little scratchy on local knowledge.
Sharon the masseur then gave the men a 'pecks test', and was blindfolded to prevent any bias.
The third test was a perfect match game, where the men were asked a question by four women hidden behind the curtain, with the women choosing the man whose answer they liked best.
At the end of the night votes were cast and Aaron Bruce came out on top.
Mr Bruce won a huge prize package including a weekend for two at Panthers World of Entertainment, five cases of beer, a full body massage courtesy of Sharon, vouchers from Noo Dooz, Yunik, Country Wide Tyres, Lowes Petroleum, Weeks Newsagency, Mining and Steel and Lost Sea Opals man pendant.
The door takings for the night were also donated to a charity of Mr Bruce's choice, which was the Jonathan Morris Fund.
Jonathan Morris is a 17-month-old baby with cancer, and the $2040 raised at the door will go a long way in helping him and his family.
Dossa Carpenter, who is a cousin to Jonathan, said she couldn't believe Mr Bruce won.
"I am so happy, I can't believe he won!" she said.
Angela Myers and Karen Bruce hosted the night, and both the crowd and the men involved enjoyed the event.
