$350,000 boost to health services in western district

Lightning Ridge health services will receive a boost as part of the NSW Government's State Budget.

The Far West Area Health Services' Upper Western Sector, including Lightning Ridge, Collarenebri, Brewarrina and Bourke, will receive $350,000 for enhanced services as part of the Multi Purpose Service program.

The Government has also allocated the Far West Area Health Service $2.8 million for the $15.3 million Bourke Hospital and Health Service redevelopment that involves the construction of a new hospital providing in-patient accommodation, nursing home facilities, emergency, imaging, operating suite, consulting suite, ambulance station, community health services and associated services.

There will be $950,000 for the $1.4 million Menindee Pharmacy Health Service - a multi purpose facility to include clinical consultation, treatment rooms, resuscitation, support services, ambulance access and car park.

The Far West Area Health Service will get $50,000 to conduct more elective surgery, $100,000 to establish drug and alcohol co-ordinators position, $100,000 to acquire cardiac, theatre and other monitoring equipment, $500,000 for two new acute mental health beds at Broken Hill Hospital plus a further, $250,000 for mental health community and medical staff enhancements in the area.
