Walgett Shire Council has received a $2.75 million funding boost from the NSW Government to help restore roads damaged by heavy rainfall last December.
Acting manager Engineering Alan Nelson said it was a pleasant surprise to have council's full application of funding received.
"When you are applying for funding of almost $3 million you do not know if you are going to be successful," he said.
Mr Nelson said all damages and costs from the December storms would be covered by the NSW Government funding.
"I'd like to think we only applied for a reasonable amount and as a result we were awarded the full funding application," he said.
In the funding allocation, $7000 will go to state roads, $1 million to regional roads and $1.7 million to local roads.
Regional roads to receive repairs include the Lightning Ridge to Collarenebri road and the Walgett to Pilliga road.
The NSW Government also made a contribution for the enlargement of the Bulyeroi Bridge after it went under in the flood.
Mr Nelson said the $7000 for state roads was to reimburse the council for road closures during the flood.
Parliamentary secretary to roads minister Eric Roozendaal said the funding followed a Roads and Traffic Authority assessment of the flood damaged roads.
