Two new faces welcomed by soroptimists

Soroptimist International Lightning Ridge welcomed two new members last Saturday.

Carol ( Caz) Peters and Alison Wheeler were officially welcomed as soroptimists at the monthly meeting.

Soroptimist International is a worldwide volunteer service organisation for women.

Their mission statement is: Through international partnerships and a global network of members, soroptimists inspire action and create opportunities to transform the lives of women and girls by: advocating for equity and equality; creating safe and healthy environments; increasing access to education and developing leadership and practical skills for a sustainable future.

At a local level the soroptimists of Lightning Ridge have helped with funding for the local funeral advisory service, senior citizens and aged people’s units, walk and bicycle path as well as offering assistance to exchange students and the introduction of a melanoma clinic.
