On Thursday October 30 ‘In the Bin’, an Outback Arts film workshop, came to Lightning Ridge Central School and spent over four days with students of the Secondary and Primary School.
This was a fantastic creative experience for our students.
The first day of activities gave students an overview of short film techniques, camera angles, and photography terms. It was great to see the enthusiasm and focus of our students on this day.
Both Emma and Luke, who were the co-ordinators, gave in depth explanations of film methods and applications.
Friday, having produced their small film script, students were actively involved in applying their understanding from the research day. Great fun and creative adventure occurred in learning the art of film production.
The Saturday extremely important and it was wonderful to see all students attend the editing workshop. Most students gained valuable experience in editing film, by learning that selection is an important part of this process. Some impressive results occurred.
The film was screened on Sunday and was a fabulous success.
Luke and Emma made the comment that such diversity of film subject matter, and genre was “the best that they had seen”.
Many people were involved in making this project such a success.
Special thanks go to Linda Best for organizing the ‘In The Bin’ workshops and being available on the week end Kelly Gould for constant guidance with camera technique and application.
Judy Jackson for supervising students on Thursday and Saturday. Di and Russel Holz who were instrument al in placing the concept in the minds of the executive and for making a great lunch and being so involved on Saturday and Sunday.
