In a bid to cap off a fantastic tourism season in Lightning Ridge and make this summer the best ever, the Lightning Ridge Tourism Association has commenced an exciting 16 day radio campaign promoting the Ridge to families within a 2.5 to 4 hour drive.
The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the fantastic family friendly and cool opportunities available in Lightning Ridge during the summer period.
The advertisement which is produced free for the association by Tamworth based public relations company, Centreboard Media features sounds of children laughing and playing in a pool and has a happy father relaying to his friend, the great time his family is having fossicking, exploring and adventuring in Lightning Ridge.
The ad will feature on four radio stations with a footprint stretching from Goondiwindi in QLD, south to Dubbo, Coonabarabran, east to Moree, Gunnedah and Quirindi and west to Bourke.
Commencing on Friday November 20 the campaign will conclude December 11and is during the period when families are making their Christmas and holiday plans.
Lightning Ridge Tourism Association marketing committee chairperson Jo Lindsay said like other radio advertising the association had undertaken, it will have long reaching effects.
“We hope to see increased traffic through the summer period as a result of this campaign, but it will also continue to bring Lightning Ridge to the forefront of people’s minds - if they cannot visit this time, perhaps they will come during another holiday,” she said.
“Lightning Ridge tourism had an overwhelming response all year, as a result of the significant radio campaign undertaken at Easter - we are anticipating this campaign will have a similar affect.”
The campaign has been funded out of the Tourism Association’s marketing budget, but in an order to boost the campaign, many local businesses have also contributed.
“This will be the first of many fantastic promotional activities undertaken by the marketing sub group,” Ms Lindsay said.
“We hope that businesses will continue to support us in our quest to grow tourism every year in Lightning Ridge.”
