Did you know the Chinese legend?

Before the Chinese Empire was founded legend has it that a noble warrior Queen fought a great battle with a neighbouring tribe.

In the fierce battle that went on for days the chief was defeated. Raging with anger at being beaten by a woman he rushed up the hillside, but the queen pursued him with her army and overtook him at the summit. Finding no place to hide he attempted in desperation to wreak vengeance and at the same time end his own life by battering his head against the Heavenly Bamboo which grew there.

By his mad battering he at last knocked down the towering tree, and as he did so the top canopy of the tree tore large rents in the sky, through which poured torrents of water which flooded the earth. Many people were drowned but not the victorious queen and her followers for she was the “Mother God” and omnipotent.

From the mountainside she gathered stones of a kind with five colours and ground them to a powder.

With this she made a plaster mortar and repaired the tears in the sky. And so became the first rainbow.

Could the stones of five colours possibly be opal do you suppose ?
