Duo set up an addictive shop

Duo set up an addictive shop

01 Oct, 2009 01:59 PM
The main street of Lightning Ridge has welcomed a new addition, just in time for the long weekend.

Opal Wilderness is the latest store to open on Opal Street, and owners Kay Veza and Gary Griffiths could not be happier.

A business that prides itself on covering all aspects of opal

jewellery - from mining to cutting to manufacturing, the shop features custom-made pieces.

Having lived in the area for a collective 27 years, Mr Griffiths is a local miner, and Ms Veza a local businesswoman.

“We have something else to offer, from high-end stones through to affordable silver handmade jewellery,” Ms Veza said.

The passionate pair have moved beyond just jewellery, with Mr Griffiths opal photography also being on display.

Aboriginal artwork is also on display in the shop, and a cutting room is set up. Printing facilities are available, and are able to print up to A1 in size.

“Opals are like an

addiction,” Mr Griffiths said.
