Art exhibition a great success

17 Jul, 2008 11:17 AM
The Desert Sands art exhibition closed on Tuesday after displaying local Aboriginal art in the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club foyer during the past three weeks.

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art and Culture course is a Technical and Further Education (TAFE) accredited course.

Teacher Johanna Parker was thrilled with the high standard of works exhibited.

“All students sold at least one piece, considering they only started the course this year, it’s just great. We have 10 students enrolled and now another four will be joining us,” Ms Parker said.

“I just love it, it’s so much fun,” said student Karen Thurston, who is completing her certificate III in the course looks forward to her classes each week.

Classes are on every Monday and Tuesday from 9am to 2pm.
