Police pursuit with a difference

A POLICE officer has been pursued by a vehicle through Narromine, and rocks allegedly thrown at her car, after she witnessed a domestic dispute.

Another man has been charged with various firearm offences after police located a rifle and ammunition while searching a home for the 27-year-old man involved in the domestic.

Charges against the 25-year-old victim of the domestic are also expected after police located cannabis plants.

An off duty female senior constable witnessed the domestic dispute taking place between a man and woman in Temoin Street, Narromine on Tuesday about 2.40pm

The 27-year-old man involved in the domestic allegedly began throwing rocks at the officer’s vehicle, smashing the windscreen and causing panel damage after the officer spoke to the 25-year-old woman to check her welfare

The officer drove from the scene and alerted on-duty police, however the 27-year-old man entered a Toyota Hilux and began pursuing her through Narromine.

After on-duty officers responded and attempted to stop the Hilux the 27-year-old ran from the vehicle and into a home on Meryula Street.

Police entered but were unable to locate him but found a .22 calibre rifle and ammunition while conducting a search of the home.

A 25-year-old man who was in the home at the time was arrested and taken to Narromine Police Station where he was charged with possess unregistered firearm, possess firearm whilst unlicensed and possess ammunition.

While investigating police were following up the domestic incident, speaking to the 25-year-old victim at a home on Temoin Street, Narromine, they located eight cannabis plants at the rear of the property.

The woman is expected to be charged.

Police are continuing with inquiries to locate the 27-year-old man involved in the domestic.

The 25-year-old man was granted conditional bail to appear at Narromine Local Court on February 14.
