Break-in at bowling club

24 Jun, 2010 11:14 AM
A break and enter took place at the Lightning Ridge Bowling Club in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

Police are not certain how the offender entered the building as there didn’t appear to be any signs of forced entry. Whilst inside the premises the offender attempted to steal an amount of alcohol.

Police said a cleaner, who was allegedly assaulted after trying to give chase, discovered the offender in the dining room at about 2.30am. The offender escaped through a fire exit and is yet to be apprehended by police. The cleaner did not sustain any serious injuries. The suspect has been identified on the CCTV security camera and police are continuing their investigations.

They are waiting on DNA results, among other things, to confirm the offender’s identity.
